Sabaia

Creating a design language, designs for digital and motion videos.

"Sabaya" is a band that blends Yemenite music with modern rhythms and technological elements, including techno music. During the design journey, I immersed myself in the band's world, delving into their music and their story. I aimed to create visuals that truly represented their essence. My approach involved fusing authentic Yemenite elements, such as Yemenite masks and olive bins, to lay the foundation for the entire design process.

I made sure to stay true to the original shapes of these Yemeni elements, preserving their authenticity. The color scheme was derived from imagery of olive tins that were historically used by Yemenis to make music, serving as a rich source of inspiration.

Inspiration
The logo design was inspired by images of Yemeni women adorned in traditional Yemeni attire and masks. Extensive research into ancient Yemeni culture further informed the design, blending these elements to create a meaningful and visually appealing representation of the brand.
Logo & graphics
The logo draws inspiration from traditional Yemeni masks, aiming to retain their intricate details while giving them a contemporary twist. It's designed to become a distinctive symbol associated with both the brand and Yemeni heritage.

The icon and logo embody the essence of the brand, marrying modern aesthetics with the rich traditions and culture of Yemen.

Covers for singles and albums
I designed the covers for both singles and albums by merging the visual elements derived from traditional costumes with a color palette that combines the essence of the past and a modern touch.
